E-Touch Academy was started to provide Electrical training for the Maritime Sector in Mallorca.

Offering courses for all skill and knowledge levels, from the basic uses of a multimeter, right up to advanced courses for PLC Programming, the E-Touch Academy is based in the E-Touch Experience Centre, located in the RS Global building of STP shipyard.

Designed to offer potential clients and crew, a State-of-the-art meeting room and an area to demo all of the available products and services that the E-Touch group of companies offer, the Experience Centre will be the main hub of the training Classes, led by In-House Engineers, providing training for all aspects of Maritime electrical and electronics.

COURSE 1

Electrical Fundamentals

Covering the basics of electrical principals and theory, such as impedance, Ohms Law, Cable capacities and many others.

Course duration: Approximately 1 week, which take place in our Experience Centre.

More courses will be released soon!

  • The beginning of the course will cover the basic functionality of the multimeter, including: How to measure basic values, How to avoid errors in measurement, Covering the meaning of the symbols on the tester and other basic uses.

  • Covering the basics of Ohms law and its definitions, demonstrating arithmetic examples, use technical drawings to explain what and how different values are calculated and explain where the symbols and formulas come from.

  • Module 3 will cover everything about the theory of electric motors, including different types of motors, operating modes and a basic real world calculations.

  • The last module in the course will cover the basics of fuses, how they differ from breakers, what the main characteristics mean and why fuses are needed.

COURSE 2

Automation Basics

Automation, working principle, wiring and fault finding.

Course duration: Approximately 1 week, which will take place in our Experience Centre.

More courses will be released soon!

  • The first module in the Automation course will begin with covering PLC basic function and types, explaining how they work and the available functionality of the various manufacturers systems.

  • Module 2 starts with a basic overview of the PLC, Demonstrating the physical functionality. The course then covers an overview of the different PLC languages and the benefits and disadvantages of each. This module will wrap up with basic debugging and PLC faultfinding.

  • Module 3 covers the basics of sensors; a device that produces an output signal for the purpose of sensing a physical phenomenon.

The module then covers the most common sensors found on board and how they function, how the signals are output from the various sensors and how they are then processed and acted upon by the PLC program.

Lastly, we will cover basic faultfinding of assorted sensors.

  • The last module covers actuators; A component of a machine that is responsible for moving and controlling a mechanism or system.

As before, we then cover the basic types of actuators, their functions and how they can be implemented on board a yacht.

Lastly, we will cover basic faultfinding of a non-functioning actuator.
